Amazon Launches Bedrock for Generative AI, Intensifying AI Cloud Wars.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy spoke directly about AWS's focus on enterprise AI with Bedrock when he spoke to CNBC's Squawk Box .

Amazon launched Bedrock for Generative AI, a new AWS cloud service, enables developers to build and scale generative AI chatbots and other cloud applications, using internal organizational data to tune a variety of large language models (LLMs). pre-trained leaders from Anthropic, AI21 and Stability. AI, as well as two new LLMs in Amazon's Titan family of models.

“Most companies want to use these great language models, but the really good ones take billions of dollars to train and many years, and most companies don't want to go through that,” he said. “So what they want to do is build off of a foundational model that's already great and great and then have the ability to customize it for their own purposes. And that's what Bedrock is."

According to Gartner analyst Sid Nag, with the buzz and excitement around generative AI news from Google and Microsoft, Amazon was overdue in following his lead.

Multiple Bedrock models make Amazon's AWS attractive

Emad Mostaque, CEO of Stability AI, noted that Bedrock's multi-model offering, including Stable Diffusion, plays into Amazon's history of focusing on choice. “In his original plan of $100 billion in revenue, Jeff Bezos envisioned half of that revenue coming from Amazon products and half from third parties through his marketplace,” he told VentureBeat in a message.

The low-code platform Pega was highlighted in AWS VP Swami Sivasubramanian's blog post as an early adopter of Bedrock. Peter van der Putten, director of Pega's artificial intelligence lab, said the company intends to use Bedrock for a variety of use cases on its platform, which it will make available to its customers.

“For example, just based on a simple sentence like 'create a dental insurance claim application,' we can generate an executable prototype of a low-code application that includes workflow, data models, and other artifacts, which will drive , will democratize and accelerate low-code development. -code business applications,” he said. “There are also other areas in our low-code platform where we take advantage of it, such as allowing users to request reports simply by using natural language.”
